I spent 24 hours in jail in Childress, Texas for having less than one gram of Marijuana on me.  Now, 8 months later, I get the paperwork.  $1,000 for fines.  $350 for court fees. 2 years probation that can be 1 year if I pay the fines and court fees off in a year's time.  With each monthly probation, I must also pay $200.  That's right, over $3,700.  I've never been in trouble with the law before, and I'm 45 years old.  I've moved to Ohio from Colorado because of the floods back in Sept.  Just as an example as to how steep my fines are, the same scenario in Ohio would be no jail time, and a Max fine of $150.00.

I can't afford the fines and fees, so I started a benefit page for myself.  As incentive for donations, I am giving away 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14 prints of my work.  The full extent of my work is on my website www.thephotovagabond.com

PLEASE visit my donation page, and share it with as many people as you can.  So far I've raised over $1,100.   www.gofundme.com/58fis0

Digital Debacle

Yes, I back things up.  Regularly.  However, on this particular occasion, I was mid work on thousands of images when, by some moronic motion, I threw away the entire photographic folder that I had worked all summer on.  Added new categories, sorted and sorted... arranged, and started to upload the work here.  Made it to "Ornamental" folder (alphabetical folder sorting.. so yeah, on the O section) and that when I threw the folder away.  Not only did I throw it away, but I emptied the recycle bin without a thought.  As a matter of fact, I didn't notice I did this for 2 days.  I was about to proceed to upload that O category, when I realized I couldn't find it, nor any of the other categories.

I tried to reclaim the thrown out folder with various programs, but that didn't work either.  It was too late, the info was already being written over.

Now, as I said, I have back up... but It's all the work before I worked so hard on it.  Basic loss of 3 months of work.  I was submitting here daily until then.. and I'm just now working up to getting back at it.  Sigh...

But, i've come to realize that no matter the format, film, slide, digital, print.. anything can happen to rob you of your work.  Easy come... easy go... I try to be Zen about it.

Saturday is the last show of the season.  Called "The Last Minute Market", is held in the old Screw Factory, in Lakewood Ohio.  Kathy, the gal who organizes it, does a fantastic job with the event and makes it very easy to deal with.  Example: Set up starts at 7am, but, because she has created a floor plan and assigned spaces for everyone, there is no need to RUSH and scramble to find a space.  I can show up at 8:30 and be relaxed about it.  It only takes me an hour to set up, so no need to be there 3 hours before hand.

Today I'll be in production mode.  Printing up Day of the Dead related images mainly, since I about sold out of them at the last show.  And of course..  more Sock Monkey Nativity.  People can't get enough of that scene.

Once this is done, it's time to chill out and enjoy the last 1.5 weeks that I'll be in Ohio with family.
